Jennifer Weis, MS, CPLC, is the founder/director of True North Transitions, Inc. Jenn is a Certified Professional Life & Academic Coach. In addition, she obtained a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling from Canisius College in 1996. She works with adolescents and young adults who are motivated to work through challenging life transitions. She utilizes approaches and evidenced-based interventions based on student needs.
Jenn is an excellent academic advisor for students in secondary and post-secondary programs. She has over 30 years of experience working with individuals and groups in private practice, educational detention, schools, and community settings.
Yossi is passionate about seeing students succeed in math, science, and computer science. He understands the unique challenges that students with ADHD and ASD face and is dedicated to providing tailored support to help students excel academically.
Yossi recently graduated Sante Fe College with an A.A. degree and intends to pursue further studies in the area of Computer Science and Mathematics. His experiences as a student help him understand what works and what does not. He has a proven track record of working with students with ADHD and ASD and adapting teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles.
Elizabeth Ricks earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2011 from the University of Florida in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences with a minor in Family Life Education. She has over seven years of teaching experience and has served as an assistant principal.
Mrs. Ricks lives not far from where she grew up in Hawthorne, FL with her husband Erik and their kids, Dalton and Fayth. When not spending time with her family her hobbies are traveling, photography, fishing, and sewing.
Laxmi Woodham (Lock-shmee) is a former ASL interpreter who served Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in Florida for over a decade. Passionate about language acquisition and fluency in both English and ASL, she holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Language Arts from University of Florida. Laxmi is thrilled to be a part of the Microschool team! Her hobbies include fiber arts like knitting and crochet, and she loves audiobooks. She hates most flowers and in her off time she can be found enjoying tea and snuggling up with her beloved orange cat, Bandy.
Thomas aims to create a learning environment where every student feels supported, recognizing the unique strengths and personalities they bring to the classroom. From K-12th grade Thomas attended six different schools throughout Alachua County, all of which had an emphasis on small classroom sizes and personalized education. This experience attuned him to the needs of students in these specialized environments. He seeks to be direct and personable with the students in his classes while setting clear learning goals; clear communication and engaging activities are essential for effective learning.
Thomas is a senior pursuing a bachelors of science in wildlife ecology and conservation. He is also an undergraduate UF IFAS researcher studying plant-pollinator interactions through citizen science data. His interests include: birding, wildlife photography, kayaking, biking, and learning about other countries.
