Extracurriculars
Our microschool's extracurricular program offers students rich opportunities to learn and grow outside the traditional classroom through activities including baking, gardening, art, Fine Art History, sewing, hiking, life skills, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). These experiences cultivate creativity, practical abilities, and a passion for lifelong learning.
Culinary classes develop essential cooking and baking skills, while gardening connects students to sustainability and environmental stewardship through hands-on experience. Art and Fine Art History expand creative expression and cultural understanding, and sewing provides both artistic outlet and practical crafting knowledge. Our hiking program promotes physical wellness and nature appreciation.
Life skills workshops prepare students for real-world independence by covering financial literacy, basic home maintenance, banking fundamentals, and other essential everyday competencies. The STEAM program bridges creative and analytical thinking, fostering innovation through interdisciplinary projects that integrate multiple fields of study.
Together, these extracurriculars develop well-rounded students who are curious, capable, and confident as they navigate diverse real-world situations.
Reading Classes
In our microschool's reading courses, middle and high school students engage with a diverse selection of texts that range from classic literature to contemporary works. These courses are designed to develop strong reading comprehension, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Students explore various genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama, allowing them to appreciate different narrative styles and perspectives. Through close reading, discussions, and written reflections, students learn to identify literary elements, understand themes, and evaluate the author's intent and techniques. The courses also emphasize vocabulary development and contextual understanding, preparing students for advanced literary analysis and fostering a lifelong love of reading. Whether exploring timeless classics or contemporary voices, students gain a deeper understanding of the world and human experience through the power of storytelling.
Reading with the community - a group of students walk twice a week and volunteer by reading with kindergarteners and 1st graders at a local elementary school
Florida Wildlife - Students has the ability to explore and learn about the environment around them with trips to a local preserve to explore and discover.
