General Information

Jennifer Weis, MS, CPLC, is the founder and director of True North Transitions, Inc. With a Master's Degree in Educational Counseling from Canisius College and over 30 years of experience, Jenn specializes in guiding adolescents and young adults through challenging life transitions. As a Certified Professional Life & Academic Coach, she employs tailored, evidence-based interventions to meet the unique needs of her students. Jenn is also an exceptional academic advisor, committed to supporting students in both secondary and post-secondary programs.

Kristin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science and Land Use Planning at Central Michigan University.  She moved to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida in 2005. 

Kristin's experience includes six years in early childhood development in the states of Florida and Maine after receiving certification through the University of Southern Maine.  Now, after twenty years working with students and research staff with the University of Florida, she is ready to move on and serve students at the secondary education level.

Yossi is passionate about seeing students succeed in math, science, and computer science. He understands the unique challenges that students with ADHD and ASD face and is dedicated to providing tailored support to help students excel academically.

Yossi graduated Santa Fe College with an A.A. degree and is currently attending The University of Florida, working towards a degree in Mathematics. His experiences as a student help him understand what works and what does not. Yossi excels at adapting teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles in his private tutoring business, which he brings to our school community.

Elizabeth Ricks earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 2011 from the University of Florida in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences with a minor in Family Life Education. She has over eight years of teaching experience and has served as an assistant principal, curriculum advisor, and Field Trip Fairy.

Mrs. Ricks lives not far from where she grew up in Hawthorne, FL with her husband Erik and their kids, Dalton and Fayth. She is planning to graduate with a Masters in Education in May 2026! When not spending time with her family or at school, she loves planning new adventures, traveling, along with photography and sewing.

Laxmi Woodham (Lock-shmee) is a former ASL interpreter who served Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in Florida for over a decade. Passionate about language acquisition and fluency in both English and ASL, she holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Language Arts from University of Florida. Laxmi is thrilled to be a part of the Microschool team! Her hobbies include fiber arts like knitting and crochet, and she loves audiobooks. She hates most flowers and in her off time she can be found enjoying tea and snuggling up with her beloved orange cat, Bandy.
